To open an organizational account, please visit a branch.  You will need to provide the following:

• A letter, on USF letterhead, from the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement stating that the organization is affiliated with USF.  The letter must list all officers needing to be placed on the organizational account as authorized signers.  
• A copy of the organization’s meeting minutes, identifying the persons authorized to be signers on the account.
• A letter from the IRS stating the Tax Identification Number or Employee Identification Number.

You may instruct your employer to split your payroll direct deposit between different accounts, if they allow.  You may also set up automatic recurring transfers within online banking, to coordinate with payroll, to transfer some of your deposit into other accounts with the credit union.

There is no fee when using a USF FCU owned ATM or any of the 30,000 Co-Op network ATMs across the US. You can find locations nearest you by searching through mobile banking or our website.

If you use an ATM outside of our fee-free ATM network, you will be assessed a surcharge. Please see our schedule of fees for the current charge.

Yes, we offer savings and checking for Sole Proprietor, General or Limited Partnership, Corporation and LLC business types.

We are sorry to hear that you are considering closing your account. Your written notice of closure may be provided in person at one of our branch locations, by mail, by email, or by fax, and should include a legible copy of an unexpired government issued ID. Account closure requests may also be securely submitted through online or mobile banking. Subaccounts may be closed at your request and at the discretion of the Credit Union without written notice.

You can add or remove a joint by either calling member services or visiting a branch. To add a joint member to your existing account in-branch, the joint must be present with photo ID. If adding the joint over the phone, we will need a copy of their driver’s license, a valid email address for both members and will need to speak to them to complete a membership application to add them to the account.

You may easily update your mailing address through online banking. Once logged in, select Settings in the top right corner (on the website) or select Settings on the mobile app by clicking on the toggle at the top left. When you are in Settings, choose Contact. You will be able to update your personal information online or on the mobile app.

You can find your account number by clicking on Accounts, choose the account (checking, savings, etc.), and go to 'Account Details' (or 'Details' on the mobile app). You can also find by referring back to the welcome letter included with your account opening documents. 

Please initiate direct deposit through your employer or originator of the direct deposit.

You will need to know the following: our routing number: 263183159 (located at the bottom of our website) and your account number.

To find the account number you will use for direct deposit, log into online banking, select the 'Accounts' widget, choose the account (checking, savings, etc.), and go to 'Account Details' (or 'Details' on the mobile app).

Funds from deposits made at an ATM not owned or operated by USF FCU will be made available on the fifth business day after the day of deposit. This hold applies to cash and check deposits made at an ATM. All checks for new members (accounts less than 30 days old) are subject to a 7 business day hold with no funds being immediately available. Please refer to the Special Rules for New Accounts section of the Universal Account Agreement that was provided when your membership was opened.

Your money is insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), an independent agency of the United States Government. Your savings is federally insured up to $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government. The credit union provides up to $250,000 more in private insured coverage through Excess Share Insurance Corporation (ESI) for a total up to $500,000.

We offer standard overdraft practices (Convenience Pay) for eligible members. With Convenience Pay, we may authorize and cover insufficient funds transactions, instead of returning the item, for a fee per covered transaction. Convenience Pay Plus will extend overdraft coverage to ATM and everyday debit card transactions. You must opt-in for Convenience Pay Plus coverage. Learn more at usffcu.org/convenience-pay-faqs

You may elect other overdraft protection coverage, such as linking to a savings account or line of credit. In that case, we will attempt to cover NSF transactions by transferring from your linked account.

Yes, but you will need to contact us prior to traveling overseas. Our fraud monitoring technology may decline attempted transactions that are outside of your normal activity (like international purchases), unless we are aware and have made notes to your account regarding your travel destination and dates. 

The first eight digits on our card are fixed depending on the type of card you have (Darden, Affinity or standard USF FCU debit card). However, each time a card is replaced, the last eight digits are changed. If you continue to experience fraud on your account regularly, please note any spending patterns or particular merchants that you use frequently. Additionally, if you are entering your card information online, your computer could potentially have a virus that is taking personal data.

Holds are placed on deposited checks in order to verify the funds are collectible. This protects the member and the credit union from potential fraud and loss. Our general policy is to make funds from check deposits available to you on the first business day after the day of the deposit.  Depending on the type and amount of check you deposit, in addition to how you deposit the check, longer holds may apply.  In that case, the first $225 of your deposits may be made available on the first business day.  Examples of when longer holds may apply include:

• Checks deposited at a foreign (non-USF FCU) ATM
• Checks deposited via mobile deposit
• Checks totaling more than $5,525 in any one day
• Checks deposited within the first 30 days of account opening
• Foreign checks drawn on a financial institution located outside the US
• If we have reason to doubt the collectability of the check

Prior to contacting the credit union, you must reach out to the merchant to see if they are willing to assist you or provide a refund. If the merchant is unwilling to help or suggests that you dispute the charge with your financial institution, please contact our member service representatives at: 813.569.2000 or toll free at: 800.763.2005 and they will be able to assist you further. If it is more convenient, you may also stop by any of our branch locations or dispute the transaction through digital banking.

Checks can be reordered through online banking, as long as no information has changed. Log into online banking, and select the 'Check Services' widget and choose 'Reorder Checks'. If you have had a change in name, address or account information, please call us to order new checks.

There is no charge for making a purchase with your debit card.

You may initiate a stop payment through online banking.  Once logged in, click on the 'Check Services' widget and select 'Stop Payment'. You may also visit a branch or call our contact center to request a stop payment.  Please review our current fee schedule for any applicable fees. 

To stop an ACH (automatic withdrawal), we ask that you try to contact the merchant (ex. Discover) to initiate the cancellation. If you have any questions, please contact our member service representatives at: 813.569.2000 or toll free at: 800.763.2005.

In the event that your Debit card was never received, you can visit one of our branches to have a card instant issued. Or, you may contact our member service representatives at 813.569.2000 to have a replacement card sent to you (it will take 7-10 business days to receive).  If you never received your Credit card please call 800.449.7728 to request a new one. 

Please immediately reach out to our member service representatives at: 813.569-2000 or toll free at: 800.763.2005 to go over your recent transactions and assist you further. If it is determined that your card has been compromised; we will block your current debit card, issue a new one, and email/fax you the fraud paperwork to complete. Once you complete and submit the fraud forms, our card services department will provide you with provisional credit within 10 days.

Additional fraud tips:

• Be careful using your debit card at gas pumps, vending machines and in isolated locations since there is a greater likelihood of “skimmers” that steal your card information. Also, use caution when entering in your card information online, especially within unfamiliar websites.
   
• Set up balance change/transaction alerts through our mobile app. so any activity will show up as a text message. This will allow you to take action more quickly and prevent additional losses in lieu of waiting for a bank statement or looking at your transactions online.

A minor may get a checking account with debit card at the age of 16.  They will need a qualified co-borrower to apply for a loan.

Your first debit card with a new checking account is complimentary. Please review our current Schedule of Fees for card replacement fees.

Some merchants process their transactions through a system known as “square” or “SQ.” Oftentimes, smaller businesses or vendors will use this processor for signature and point of sale purchases. If you see a transaction like this, try to recall if you have made any purchases for a similar amount because it may look different on your banking statement and appear fraudulent at first.

USF FCU is proud to offer a truly free checking account. There are no monthly maintenance, debit card usage or below balance fees. There may be fees for optional services associated with your account, such as charges for ordering checks, requesting a stop payment or overdrawing your account. You may withdraw up to $500 per day at an ATM.  You may use your debit card PIN to access up to $1,000 per day to purchase goods, pay for services or obtain cash from a merchant in person.  You may access up to $2,500 from your account by signing to purchase goods or pay for services (in person, online, or by phone).

The number to contact member card security is: 1 (888) 241-2440. If they notice suspicious charges on your debit card, a representative will attempt to contact you and temporarily block your card until they verify the charges in question. If you do not recognize the charges and fraud has occurred, they will transfer you to our member service department for further assistance. If there is no fraud, they will unblock your card.

To report your ATM or debit card lost or stolen, please call 888.241.2510 or come into your nearest USF FCU branch for an instant replacement.

USF FCU will reimburse your account for a USF FCU-charged ATM Withdrawal Fee, up to four times a calendar year, overnight after the fee has been assessed. Members can make unlimited surcharge-free withdrawal transactions at USF FCU ATMs and at more than 30,000 CO-OP and CU24 Network ATMs.

USF FCU offers standard overdraft practices (Convenience Pay) in which we may authorize and pay overdrafts when you don’t have enough money in your account to cover a transaction. We also offer other overdraft protection plans such as a link to a savings account or line of credit, which may be less expensive than our standard overdraft practices.  Under our standard overdraft practices, we will charge you a fee of up to $10 each time we pay an overdraft of $5 or less and we will charge you $29 each time we pay an overdraft larger than $5.  If an overdraft occurs on your account and, at the credit union’s discretion, we do not authorize and pay the transaction, your transaction will be declined and you may be subject to an NSF Fee according to our current Fee Schedule.

Parents who are USF FCU members may easily transfer money to their children’s account using the “transfer to another member’s share” option within the mobile app.

You may use up to two free money orders or official checks per calendar year from a qualified checking account.  This benefit can be used for a combination between the two services, utilizing one free money order and one free official check. Or, member can opt to receive two free money orders or two free official checks.  Cost for service is waived at the time of purchase.

Up to four “Oops” fees are reimbursed per calendar year on a qualified Evolve checking account.  Maximum of four annual fee reimbursements may consist of any combination of Overdraft Transfer, Insufficient Funds (NSF) or Convenience Pay fees.  Reimbursement of this fee will occur overnight, after the fee has posted to your account.

Evolve Young Adult Checking benefits are available on all checking accounts where the Primary account holder on membership is between the ages of 16-24.  Upon Primary Member turning 25, Evolve benefits will cease and checking account will function as the standard USF FCU checking account. If an individual in the age range of 16-24 is Joint on an account where the Primary Member is older than 24, said checking account will not receive Evolve benefits.

Yes, you can maintain both types of IRAs at the same time. You can even make contributions to both types of IRAs in the same year. But your contributions to both Roth and traditional IRAs cannot exceed the maximum contribution limit for all IRAs.

A Roth IRA is an individual retirement account created by the Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997. Roth IRA accounts are traditionally used as retirement savings accounts. Distributions are generally tax-free after meeting minimum aging requirements.

Those who work for a living can contribute to a Roth IRA account. The income must be derived from actual work efforts and compensation in the form of wages, tips, salaries, bonuses and professional fees.

A Share Certificate, the Credit Union version of a CD, is a savings certificate entitling the bearer to receive dividends. A Certificate bears a maturity date, a specified fixed interest rate and can be issued in any denomination (minimums apply). When you open a Certificate, your money is on deposit for a specific time period. For agreeing to keep it on deposit for a specified time period, you earn more than you would in a regular savings account. If you cash it in before its maturity date, you may pay a penalty.
